The Island Bus photographic Friday 06/04/2012

Spring on Tilos

A few days ago, I went for a walk with Marta and Sveta.

You already know Marta from our Island Bus trailer: she works for Tilos’s home-care program and hails from Albania – the Northern, very mountainous part. Sveta is a nuclear engineer from Ukraine who works in the kitchen of one of Tilos’s restaurants. She used to spend her uni holidays skiing or hiking in Caucasus.

Therefore, to these two ladies Tilos mountains with their height of 600+ metres must seem like small hills.

But as we set out from Megalo Chorio, I thought things looked quite Alpine.

The white-washed chapel is a giveaway, but, hey, the rest...

I admit, botanists would probably protest that there is not that much oregano on Mont Blanc. But if Bollywood films can be shot in Switzerland because the panorama looks just like the Himalayan foothills, Profitis Ilias makes for a nice high-altitude backdrop, too.

Just don’t say Tilos doesn’t have it all.

Looks like a trek - was a pleasant stroll

For the film, all I have to do is work out how to keep the documentary authenticity intact…
